Workshops by LTSFA Volunteers

Hari Raman recently conducted a six-week educational program on the human body for a 12-year-old student, with each week focused on a different body system. Each session included a 15-slide PowerPoint presentation that explained key structures and functions in an age-appropriate way, along with a 40-question Kahoot quiz to review the material interactively. The program combined clear instruction with engaging activities to deepen understanding and maintain interest. Overall, it strengthened the student’s knowledge of anatomy and physiology while fostering curiosity and active participation in learning.

Maithreyi Asthagiri, a Gopa Kuteeram student and Love to Share Youth Volunteer, had the opportunity to lead the LTSFA’s Summer Enrichment Program, a course designed to build students’ communication skills, self-expression, and confidence through public speaking, storytelling, and active listening. Alongside this, she successfully onboarded two additional classes: Python, which encouraged innovation, and Human Biology, which introduced students to health in a beginner-friendly manner. The program not only strengthened students’ skills and confidence but also gave Maithreyi experience in leadership, recruiting, and youth mentorship.

Nilay Arangil conducted a course that started with basic Python, teaching students how code works and how to perform simple tasks like returning words or asking questions. Students then applied these skills to real-world problems, such as building a calculator that could interpret written inputs and return solutions. In the second half, they learned advanced concepts like object-oriented programming and list manipulation, using them to create more complex programs like a cashier system that calculates totals with tax. Overall, the course gave students both a strong introduction to coding and practical experience solving real-world problems.
