SG 60 Nama Relay in Singapore to Commemorate the 60th Year of Independence

The SG 60 Nama Relay was an event organized by Namadwaar Singapore on 4th April 2026, to commemorate the glorious 60th anniversary of Singapore’s independence by chanting the Mahamantra for peace and harmony. It was conducted as a relay, with various organizations taking turns to chant the Mahamantra for 20 minutes each. The event was held at the Ground Floor Hall of Sri Sivan Temple, Geylang East.

Preparations began early at 7:15 am, with Namadwaar teams assembling to set up the venue. After the stage arrangements were completed and the hall was readied with the temple staff’s support, the program commenced promptly at 8:00 am.
The program began with the chanting of the Mahamantra by Namadwaar Singapore members. This was followed by members from the following 13 organizations taking turns to chant the Mahamantra until 1:00 pm.

Sri Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Vishwa Varkari Samsthan, Sree Gnananananda Seva Sangam, Sri Brahmasabha, Singapore Dakshin Bharath Brahmin Sabha, Malayali Hindu Samajam, Friends of Radha, Dhivyaprabhanda Goshti, Sri Ramanuja Society, Hari Bhakta Samajam, Singapore Satsang Friends, Jayalaxmi Arts, and Hindu Center.

Adults and youth teams worked together to welcome walk-in devotees and conduct Nama pracharam, explaining the benefits of chanting Nama. The walk-in devotees spent anywhere from minutes to hours chanting along with the performing teams. The temple atmosphere was filled with the constant vibration of Nama.

It was a hot day, and everyone was perspiring. Suddenly, the sky became cloudy, and a gentle breeze began to blow, bringing relief from the heat. It felt as though the presence of our Sri Swamiji and Sri Madhurisaki Sametha Sri Premikavaradha Swami was being confirmed through these happenings. Just after noon, the chief guest for the event, Sri Rajan Krishnan, Chairman of the Hindu Endowments Board, arrived, accompanied by a light drizzle that further affirmed the divine presence in the chants.

At 1:00 pm, following the felicitation of Sri Rajan Krishnan by our priest, Brahmasri Janardhanan Ji, the chief guest addressed the gathering and expressed his appreciation for the event and the blessings he received by listening to Nama. This was followed by a vote of thanks, and the event concluded with lunch prasadam for all present.
