Know Thy Self

A person most of the time ponders only about others – this person isn’t ok, that person isn’t ok, He should have done this way, he shouldn’t have done that way, so on and so forth.

In a similar vein, he also thinks about others evaluatively like he is capable, she is beautiful, so and so is a good person, etc. Rarely does that person ever reflect on his own state – ‘Why am I filled with such nasty thought?’, ‘Why am I doing such evil deeds?’, etc. and feels remorseful. He also longs to be like few others he has seen who are good, intelligent and capable.

Mind is also like this; It experiences pleasure through the senses of perception and action; it also experiences pain through these sense organs. It also recollects the experiences and with those thoughts, it undergoes the experience of joy or sorrow or regret or hatred or anger etc.

Rarely does the mind ever enquire about its own true nature. Who am I who experiences joy or sorrow through the ten sense organs of perception and action? What indeed is my true state?
If it persists in these lines of questioning it will lead to self enquiry.
